The two most popular types of CIGNA plans in Arizona are Health Savings Accounts and Preferred Provider Organization plans.

Health Savings Accounts are accounts in which the individual or family can decide where their health care money is allocated- whether in short term uses, such as copays, or in long term uses, such as future medical expenses.  These plans are for those who want to take responsibility for their health, and therefore usually choose to live a healthier lifestyle.  Health Savings Accounts stay with the individual whether s/he is changing states, careers, or even marital status.

Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans are more flexible than Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans.  CIGNA offers two HMO plans to residents of Arizona.  Health Maintenance Organization plans, while a cheaper route to take in health insurance, are least flexible as the plans require members to use in-network health care providers such as primary care doctors, specialists and hospitals.  Preferred Provider Organization plans allow members to visit out-of-network care providers at additional copay.
