CIGNA in New Jersey includes benefits for group plans such as life and accident products as well as the Employee Assistance Program.  This Program can provide 24/7 telephone access and, if the member chooses, face-to-face assessments and counseling sessions.  The number of visits per unique issue per year may also depend on what plan the employer chooses and state the member resides in.

CIGNA International is an international program for residents in New Jersey and offers benefits for those who work overseas for a project or who work for an international company.  These benefits cover life, accident and supplemental health insurance.

Other programs that CIGNA offers are CIGNA Intercorp and CIGNA Voluntary.  CIGNA’s Intercorp program focuses on preventing sicknesses and injuries and reduces expenses and time by providing a case-by-case management service to members.  CIGNA Voluntary includes medical and pharmacy discounts and benefits as well as dental and vision care.

Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans are much different than Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans.  HMOs tend to be less expensive than PPOs because they require members to use in-network health care providers, such as primary care doctors, specialists and hospitals.   Preferred Provider Organizations give members the choice to use out-of-network providers with an additional copay rate.  Open Access plans allow New Jersey residents to choose their Primary Care Physician.  Referrals are also not necessary when seeing out-of-network specialists.

Health Savings Accounts are for those who choose to take responsibility over their health and decide where to allocate their health care dollars.  Health Savings Accounts also stay with the member if they choose to move out of the state, switch jobs, or even change marital status.
