In order to become eligible for this type of health coverage, your organization must qualify as a small business: at least two and no more than 50 full time employees. Also, each individual must work at least 30 hours a week and cannot be seasonal or contract. This means that part time employees are ineligible.

Companies who enroll in this plan can receive tax breaks for offering group health insurance. The amount your business pays out in premiums for employees can be used to receive better tax credit at the end of the year.

Health Managed Organizations (HMO) is one of the more popular forms of managed care. In the state, you can only receive coverage that falls under your specific network. However, this plan is very affordable as you could see a Doctor in the state for approximately $10 a visit.

Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO) has a similar price as an HMO but with more flexibility. Under this plan you can go outside your network and still receive some of your benefits. The plan uses coinsurance, meaning you would pay a deductible before a provider makes a contribution. If you want to make you premium rates low, you can choose a higher deductible.

The Point of Service (POS) plan in the state of Washington is the coverage that gives you the most options. Under this plan, any doctor can be your primary care physician, regardless of what network you belong to. As long as you have a referral, you will receive full benefits. Even if you aren’t referred you will still receive some benefits if you receive treatment outside your network.
